‘Government’s top priority was to invest in education sector’: CM Sangma

Shillong: State government has initiated a program to create better educational facilities across the state, said Meghalaya chief minister Conrad K Sangma on Thursday.


During the inauguration ceremony of a new building of St Anne’s School, Garagre in South West Garo Hills, the CM informed it.


“Government is facing challenges to overhaul education sector but the state government is committed to upscale the educational infrastructure and learning facilities in the state.” said CM Sangma.

He added that the education sector could not be transformed overnight but the government is working hard to create a turnaround. The government’s top priority is to invest in the education sector.


Additionally, the CM announced to provide solar lights facilities and computers for the schools located in the India Bangladesh Border.


During the inauguration ceremony, the children of the school presented various cultural and dance numbers.


Reportedly, the school was funded by various doners with most of the contribution coming from teenagers from Germany, who collected funds singing Christmas carols.


Further, Bishop Jose thanked chief minister Conrad K Sangma and the government of Meghalaya for its support to missionaries for its growth in the educational sector in the state.


Speaking on the occasion, Bishop of Tura Rt Rev Andrew R Marak said that education is very important for a society to grow. The missionaries in Garo Hills will continue to reach the nook and corner of the region to impart quality education
