    Delhi: Dengue cases reach highest in 5 years; Govt issues instructions

    After Delhi experienced an extraordinary flood-like event, the dengue situation there soared.

    Digital Desk: Dengue cases in Delhi reached 187 in total as of July 22. This is the highest number since 2018. In order to stop the spread of the virus, the state government has directed the officials to conduct campaigns about the illness in schools and among the general public, according to health minister Saurabh Bhardwaj. 

    "We have instructed the Health Department and DIP to conduct a campaign addressing dengue among the general public and in schools. Hospitals will be equipped to handle dengue patients. I also spoke with the MCD Commissioner about it today," he told the news agency ANI.

    Dengue virus is spread through mosquito bites to humans.  DENV-1, DENV-2, DENV-3, and DENV-4 are the four dengue virus serotypes. the genomic sequencing of 20 positive samples revealed that 19 of them had strain type-2, according to the Delhi government.
