    JAMA Network Open reveals a list of Supplements that can lead to Liver issues…


    In today’s fast pacing world, herbal remedies have gained worldwide popularity often regarded as free from side
    effects. Familiar herbs like green tea, turmeric, and ginger are often seen as beneficial for boosting immunity and overall health. However, during recent findings suggest that excessive use of these herbs without medical guidance can pose serious risks, particularly to the liver.

    A research published by JAMA Network Open highlights the increasing liver related issue from taking medications; those are often linked to supplements such as Green tea essence, Turmeric, Ashwagandha,
    Snakeroots and Red Yeast Rice. JAMA Network Open is a monthly open access medical journal published by the American Medical Association.
     It is estimated that nearly 5% of American adults and nearly every Indian household use these herbal products, unaware of the potential risks.

    While these substances offers countless health benefits when consumed in moderation, excessive use can lead to internal organ damage. Turmeric, often praised for its anti-inflammatory properties, has been linked to liver damage and kidney stone formation when taken in large amounts. In the similar manner Ashwagandha, also called as ‘Indian ginseng ‘ known for its stress-relieving properties, also has also been associated with liver damage consumed in large amount.

    On the other hand, Green tea widely regarded beneficial in preventing serious health issues like cancer and heart diseases, obesity and diabetes has also been linked to severe liver complication when consumed in high doses. Other herbs, such as Black Cohosh or Snakeroots  is a popular remedy for menopausal symptoms and Red Yeast Rice is the product of fermented rice  with a type of yeast called Monascus purpureus that have also been shown to cause severe liver issues.

    The study emphasizes the importance of consulting professional healthcare before using herbal supplements to avoid potentially side effects.
