    Digital Desk: India has seen a spike in daily Covid-19 cases, with the nation recording 1,300 new coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours, the highest in 140 days, according to Union Health Ministry data updated on Thursday. 


    With this, the nation's total number of Covid cases has increased to 4.46 crore. (4,46,99, 418).


    The death toll has increased to 5,30,816 with three deaths. According to the data updated at 8 am, Karnataka, Gujarat, and Maharashtra, each recorded one death.


    In India, the number of active cases has risen to 7,605, accounting for 0.02% of total infections. 


    The daily positivity rate was 1.46 percent, and the weekly positivity rate was 1.08 percent. The national Covid-19 recovery percentage is 98.79%, according to the ministry.


    So far, 92.06 crore tests for Covid detection have been conducted, with 89,078 tests being conducted in the last 24 hours.


    The number of people who have recovered from the disease has risen to 4,41,60,997, with a 1.19 percent case fatality rate. 


    Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stressed the importance of constantly tracking the Covid-19 situation in the country, as well as increasing testing of all severe acute respiratory illness (SARI) cases and ramping up genome sequencing.


    He advocated for greater lab surveillance, testing of all severe acute respiratory illness cases, and an increase in genome sequencing to detect and control the spread of the virus. 


    The Prime Minister also discussed the country's current influenza situation, noting an increase in H1N1 and H3N2 cases in recent months. It is important that the government take proactive steps to address these concerns and guarantee public safety.
