The World Health Organization (WHO) reported that over 3,000 additional deaths had been caused by this virus in the last 28 days, an 8% drop from the previous report.

    The number of new COVID cases has increased by 52% during the last four weeks, according to WHO. The 'JN.1' coronavirus variant, which the global health body has named as the 'Variant of Interest,' is linked to the B.2.86 lineage through the Global Initiative on Sharing All Influenza Data (GISAID). This is in the midst of a sharp increase in cases of the variant.

    Cases of the 'JN.1' variant have been reported recently in a number of nations, and these variant-related occurrences are increasing globally. Reports of sightings of this variation have come from the US, China, Singapore, and India. Seven occurrences of this variation have been reported from China.

    In the last 24 hours, there have been four COVID-19 fatalities and 752 new cases in India. There have been 3,420 patients treated in total. Since May 21, 2023, these cases mark the most number of coronavirus infections that have been reported in a single day.

    A total of 450.07 million (450,07,964) COVID-19 cases have been recorded across the nation to far, according to data updated by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. As of today, there have been four deaths nationwide as a result of this epidemic, bringing the total to 533,332.
