Digital Desk: As the number of covid-19 cases in the national capital increases, the number of patients in home isolation has more than doubled, from 447 on April 11 to 2,812 on April 24, according to official data. During this time, the number of patients admitted to the hospital climbed from 17 to 80. Despite the increase in cases, the Delhi administration has ensured residents that hospitalization rates have been low.
On April 24, Delhi registered 1,083 Covid-19 cases, bringing the total current caseload to 3,975 from 601 on April 11.
According to the data, the hospitalization rate has been minimal thus far, accounting for less than 3% of total active cases.

The number of home isolation patients in Delhi increased dramatically from 504 on April 13 to 574 the next day, and then to 685 on April 15. On April 16, the number crossed 700, and on April 17, it reached 964.
On April 18, the number surpassed 1,000, and on April 19, it crossed 1,274. The trend continued on April 20, when the number hit 1,574, and it was close to 2,000 the next day.
While the number of cases has increased dramatically, the number of containment zones has stayed stable and has not increased much. In contrast, the number of containment zones decreased from 741 on April 11 to 656 on April 24.
On January 13, during the third wave of covid-19, the number of daily cases in Delhi reached a new high of 28,876. On January 14, the positive rate was 30.6 percent, which was the highest during the third wave.
As per a report by the news agency PTI, experts have linked the increase in cases to human behaviour, claiming that there is minimal cause for concern because the majority of the population is immune due to vaccination and previous illness.
But, due to an increase in cases, the Delhi government reinstated the mas mandate just weeks after it was lifted. Moreover, anyone who breaks the mask restrictions will face a penalty of Rs 500.
