Heavy damages reported after flash floods hit Arunachal Pradesh, two persons reported dead

Itanagar: Two persons were killed and mass damages reported from Arunachal Pradesh after swirling water of the Ego river hit Lepa Rada district. Rescue ops are underway as one of the bodies has been recovered while the second one remains missing.

Arunachal Pradesh CM Pema Khandu took to his Twitter handle to express anguish over the situation and promised ex-gratia relief to the families of the deceased.

“Deeply saddened by the loss of two lives in Dari circle of Lepa Rada district due to flood. My sincere condolences to the family grieving the loss. Necessary ex-gratia relief to the next of kin is being extended. I appeal everyone to take precautions to prevent any further losses,” he tweeted.

 Heavy rains and flash floods in several rivers and rivulets created havoc in the districts of West Siang, Siang and East Siang in the last couple of days in the state.

Bridges, roads, communication lines have all collapsed in the region following flash floods and heavy rains in several districts of Arunachal Pradesh.
