Himachal man sells cows to buy smartphone for children’s online class

Shimla: A man in Himanchal Pradesh had to sell his cow, the only source of his income, to buy a mobile phone so that his children could attend online classes.

Kuldip Kumar of Jwalamukhi in Kangra district said after the schools closed in March, his children studying in Class 4 and Class 2 were finding it difficult to continue their studies in the absence of a smartphone.

After the lockdown he was under immense pressure to buy a smartphone so that his children could attend the online classes to continue with their studies. As no banks helped with the Rs 6000, needed to buy a smartphone, he had to sell his cow.
