Arjun Tendulkar leaves Mumbai; to attend Goa trial sessions

Arjun's decision to work for a different state is related to him obtaining game time to demonstrate his talent. He recently took part in T20 matches in England as a member of the Mumbai Indians' development team. However, the rookie has yet to play a game for the five-time IPL champions.

    Digital Desk: Arjun
Tendulkar, the son of the legendary Sachin Tendulkar, is to leave Mumbai for
Goa's domestic rivals in the upcoming season. The left-arm fast bowler has
already submitted an application for his home association MCA's No Objection
Certificate (NOC). Arjun will likely be included in the state's pre-season
probables, a senior member of the Goa Cricket Association (GCA) stated to news
    outlet PTI.

    Tendulkar
Junior represented Mumbai in two matches for the 2020–21 Syed Mushtaq Ali
Trophy against Haryana and Puducherry, respectively. The 22-year-old fast
bowler was a member of the Mumbai Indians during the most recent IPL season,
however, he did not participate in a single match.

    "In
addition to adding players to the middle order with a variety of skills, we
have been on the lookout for left-handed bowling ability. Arjun Tendulkar was
invited to join the Goa side in this situation. He will participate in the
preseason exhibition games (white ball) that we will be playing. Afterward, the
judges would make a decision depending on his performance "Suraj Lotlikar,
head of the Goa CA, said.

    "Arjun needs to
make the most of his playing time at this point in his career. We think that
the change will increase Arjun's chances of appearing in matches that are more
intense. His cricketing career is starting a new phase "In a statement,
    SRT Sports Management said.

    Salil
Ankola, the head selector for Mumbai, informed the media of the decision and
claimed that the 'promising' athlete needs game experience to advance his
    career.

    "Last year, we
selected him for the Ranji Trophy, but he was unable to make the starting XI.
He is a young man with extraordinary skill, and all he needs to demonstrate it
is some playing time. I'm hoping that this switch will do that "Ankola
    said.

    The
Indian domestic season begins on September 8 and will last for six months,
featuring 1500 games for all age levels. After a three-year absence, the Duleep
Trophy will return in its previous zonal format, followed by the Syed Mushtaq
Ali Trophy (October 11–November 5) and the Vijay Hazare Trophy (November 12-
    December 2).

38 teams, divided into three groups of eight
teams and two groups of seven sides, will compete in both white-ball events.
