Notably, the peace talk that the BJP lead state government initiated with the ULFA-I soon after it came to power has now been under halt.
Digital Desk: The United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (ULFA-I) on Tuesday (April 26) issued a statement claiming that the Assam police and security forces had sent a secret agent to the base of the ULFA-I to gather information as well as to destroy the base of the banned organization.
The statement stated that Assam police and security forces sent Sanjeev Sarma of Baihata Chariali to spy on the activities of the banned organization and also to destroy its bases situated in different locations.
Sharing a video of the accused secret agent, the ULFA-I, in its statement, stated, "The Assam police and security forces have sent a secret agent name Sanjeev Sarma of Baihata Chariali to the ULFA-I base. The video of the secret agent accepting to be the spy of the Assam police and security forces has been provided." [Translated into english]
Notably, in the given video, Sarma accuses the Guwahati Joint Commissioner of Police Partha Sarathi Mahanta and the Army officer posted in Srinagar Dhunumani Saikia of instigating him to join the banned organization to take revenge for his brother's murder and also for a huge amount of money of Rs 1 crores.
In the alleged video, Sarma said, "I met Partha Sarathi Mahanta and Dhunumani Saikia four years back through my brother who was a para commando and was murdered in Manipur. Partha Sarathi Mahanta said to me to join ULFA to take revenge of my brother murder which he said that ULFA has killed him. Also he said he will pay me Rs 1 crores immediately after the sucess of the mission."
"He (Partha Sarathi Mahanta) trained me and also some of the people in martial arts, shooting, etc., before joining the ULFA," he added.
Further, Sarma claimed that he has previously done several missions for the police and army, which they cant do.
Now the question arises that at the time when there is an anticipation that a peace process would be made between the Assam government and ULFA-I at that time, the two face formula of the Assam police and Assam government, including the army is how much acceptable is under question.
Notably, the peace talk that the BJP lead state government initiated with the ULFA-I soon after it came to power has now been under halt.
Previously, the ULFA-I announced a cease-fire during the covid-19 induced pandemic.
