    Digital Desk: Assam daughter Nayanmoni Saikia booked her name in gold by winning the fourth gold medal for India in the final of lawn bowls at the Commonwealth Games 2022 (CWG) on Tuesday.

    Nayanmoni Saikia was a weightlifter during the initial period of her her career but changed her game after suffering an injury.

    The Indian women's team made Olympic history when they defeated South Africa in the lawn bowls final to claim gold.

    After 14 ends, India had a good lead of 5 points, and South Africa needed a miracle to even keep the match close.

    The final score was 17-10 in favour of India, who added another gold medal to their total.

    It was a historic first for an Indian team to triumph in lawn bowls at a global competition.

    It is to be noted that with this achievement India’s medal tally at the sporting event has gone up to 10 with four gold, three silver and three bronze medals so far.
