Digital Desk: One more The death toll at
Cachar Paper Mill has risen to 106, and the mill is now owned by the Government
of India. HPC Paper Mills of Assam, recently taken over by the Government of
Assam.
Gopal Chandra Bhar, a resident of
Panchgram, Radharani Colony, Dist, Hailakandi, lost the battle of life and
departed to his heavenly abode on June 13, 2022.
He was found unconscious that morning
and taken to nearby Kalinagar Hospital, where the doctor declared him dead; he
died at the age of 57+ only. He was suffering from kidney disease, followed by
tuberculosis and other serious complications, but failed to afford the desired
treatment due to a financial crisis owing to the nonpayment of salary for the
last 64 months; finally, he died at his home at Panchgram, Radharani Colony. A
post-mortem report is awaited from the district authorities of Hailakandi.

On the other hand, the government of
Assam agreed to release a relief package for the rescue of the workers, but the
relief package has not been released.
The death toll has risen to 106,
with four suicides in Assam's HPC Paper Mills (the 21st death since a new
government led by Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma came to power). A government-owned
industry has turned into a Valley of Death.
While Natural Justice is rejected by
the native government and inhuman torture increases, the only option that
remains open is the Citizen’s Court of National and International Communities.
