Digital Desk: A report by the Association of Democratic Reforms (ADR) has disclosed that 28 ministers in the third Narendra Modi government have criminal cases against them. Of these, 19 face serious charges, including attempted murder, crimes against women, and hate speech.

Among the most serious allegations, two ministers have declared cases related to attempted murder under Indian Penal Code section 307: Shantanu Thakur, Minister of State for Ports, Shipping and Waterways, and Sukanta Majumdar, Minister of State for Education and Development of North Eastern Region.

The ADR report further reveals that five ministers have cases related to crimes against women. These ministers are Minister of State for Home Bandi Sanjay Kumar, Shantanu Thakur, Sukanta Majumdar, Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas and Tourism Suresh Gopi, and Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram.

Additionally, eight ministers have been identified with cases related to hate speech. In total, 28 out of 71 ministers, or 39 percent, have declared criminal cases.

The new Council of Ministers, which was sworn in on June 9, includes 72 members, among them Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
