Palakkad: Joy, anger, grief, compassion, love – the finest emotions that are usually displayed by the most intelligent beings on earth, the humans, and is also found in the contours of the animal world, that can sometimes touch our hearts to its deepest core. In one such sight, and a terribly heart wrenching video, a female elephant was trying to revive her dead calf who allegedly died due to electrocution.

The video was shared on Twitter by Sanyukta, and since it’s posting two days ago, the video has already garnered 5.9K views. The video has been captured from Palakkad in Kerala where villagers had barricaded their residential areas with electric wires so as to prevent wild elephants from entering their areas. Whatsoever, this video has caused a ripple of anger, grief among the netizens who have slammed the villagers for the ‘crime’ of installation of the electric barbed wires.

From the look of it, one can understand the motherly instincts of the elephant, who is trying to revive her child using her trunk. Elephants use their trunks much like people use their hands, and the ends of their trunks are more sensitive than human fingertips. Elephants stroke or caress each others' heads and backs with their trunks to console or comfort loved ones. And what more tragic can it be for a mother to see her dead child in front of her, helpless, speechless.
