  Digital Desk: Legendary singer Bappi Lahiri, who died on February 15 at the age of 69, will be cremated at Pawan Hans Crematorium in Mumbai on Thursday (February 17) after his son Bappa Lahiri arrives from the US, reports said. Bappi Lahiri got a chest infection and was treated for it earlier this year. On February 15, he was released from the hospital. However, his condition deteriorated, and he was again admitted to the hospital yesterday; however, he passed away at about 11.45 p.m. He is survived by a son Bappa Lahiri and a daughter Rema Lahiri. The family is awaiting Bappa’s return from the United States and the last rites will be performed by him. Taneesha Lahiri, the daughter of action director Mahendra Verma, is Bappa’s wife. A statement released by Bappi Lahiri’s family reads, “It’s a deeply sad moment for us. The cremation will take place on the arrival of Bappa from LA tomorrow mid-morning. We are seeking love and blessings for his soul. We will keep you updated - Mrs Lahiri, Mr Gobind Bansal, Bappa Lahiri, Rema lahiri (sic)." According to the hospital’s statement, Bappi Lahiri was rushed to the hospital in a critical condition. According to reports, Bappi Lahiri was suffering from Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) and recurrent chest infections. He was admitted to ‘Criticare Hospital’ in Juhu for 29 days, following which he made a full recovery and was discharged on February 15. However, his health deteriorated again after a day at home and was sent back to ‘Criticare hospital’ in a serious condition, where he died at about 11.45 p.m.
