Digital Desk: The police handed over the body of Punjabi actor Deep Sidhu to his family on Wednesday after the post-mortem was completed, the report said.
Meanwhile, Sonipat Police have filed an FIR under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 279 (rash driving) and 304 (causing death by negligence) against a truck driver for allegedly triggering the accident that killed the Punjabi actor.
Sidhu’s brother filed the complaint, alleging that the driver abruptly applied the brakes, triggering the accident that resulted in Sidhu’s death.
Earlier, police stated that Deep Sidhu’s car collided with a stationary truck near the Pipli toll on the KMP expressway.
In January of last year, Deep Sidhu was released on bail in the Republic Day violence case.
In February last year, Sidhu was arrested by Delhi Police in connection with the 2021 Republic Day violence case. On Republic Day, a farmer’s tractor rally became violent after protesters arrived at the Red Fort. Farmers were protesting against three agriculture laws.
“Deep Sidhu instigated the mob not to follow the authorized path of the Kisan parade and break barricades with tractors.” according to the FIR filed by Delhi Police on January 26, 2021.
Extending condolences, Punjab chief minister Charanjit Singh Channi Tweeted, “Deeply saddened to learn about the unfortunate demise of renowned actor and social activist, Deep Sidhu. My thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved family and fans,”
