The National Center for Seismology (NCS) reported a magnitude 6.6 earthquake east of Noumea, New Caledonia, on Thursday.

The United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported that an earthquake of a magnitude of 7.0 struck Tadine, New Caledonia, earlier.The USGS tweeted, "Notable quake, preliminary info: M 7.0 — 272 km ESE of Tadine, New Caledonia."
