Mumbai: Former India chief coach Ravi Shastri joined as the Commissioner of the Legends League Cricket (LLC). The Legends League Cricket is a professional event for retired players that is all set to take off next year.

The first term of LLC is programmed to be carried out in January next year in the Gulf. 

"It feels great to remain associated with cricket in the thick of the action. Especially with the Legends of the sport who have been winners in their rights," stated Shastri in a statement.

"I am greatly excited to be a part of Legends League Cricket. This is a unique initiative. We see a very bright future ahead," Shastri added.

However, the released statement did not particularise his role as Commissioner of the League.

LLC will cover former cricketers from India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Australia, England. It will also include other cricket nations, divided into three Teams representing India, Asia and the Rest of the World.

The co-founder and CEO of LLC, Raman Raheja said, "He (Shastri) has been a true legend of Indian and world cricket, delivering glory to India for years."

"We possibly couldn't have a more skilled person to manage our cricket matters and lead the League in the right way. We look ahead to the thrilling days ahead." Raheja added.
