Guwahati: In another land encroachment case, the forest officials arrested one land mafia on Wednesday. Additionally, they demolished the illegal structures constructed upon the Amchang forest land Forest department said.

Reportedly, the accused land mafia, identified as Sahidul Islam, encroached more than 20 acres of the Amchang forest land. Moreover, the accused was carrying out the process of land encroachment for a long time now.

A Forest official said, “Land mafia identified as Sahidul Islam has encroached more than 20 acres of Amchang forest land. From several years he is linked with encroachment in the Sanctuary.”

“We have demolished the houses which were built upon the land of Amchang forest and seized one horse from the spot.” added the official.

As per reports, a team of forest officials managed to apprehend Sahidul Islam, but his other accomplices managed to escape.

The official informed, a team of forest officials arrested the accused from Botahghuli Yusuf Nagar, Paanjbari, where he was spotted encroaching the land of Amchang forest.
