Digital Desk: Unidentified miscreants threw a crude bomb at the home of expelled BJP leader Chongtham Bijoy in Lamphel, Manipur’s Imphal West district, police said. Reportedly, the incident happened on Friday night, just hours before the second phase of the assembly elections. As per the police report, no one was hurt in the incident, which was set off by two masked individuals riding a two-wheeler. The expelled BJP leader, Chongtham Bijoy, said to the media, “The attack might be a threat...to make me politically silent,” Police official said, “An investigation into the matter is underway and further details will be disclosed after the inquiry.” On Saturday, polling for the second and final phase of Manipur’s assembly elections began at 7 am in 22 constituencies across six districts. Lilong, Thoubal, Wangkhem, Heirok, Wangjing Tentha, Khangabo, Wabgai, Kakching, Hiyanglam, Sugnoo, Jiribam, Chandel (ST), Tengnoupal (ST), Phungyar (ST), Ukhrul (ST), Chingai (ST), Karong (ST), Mao (ST), Tadubi (ST), Tamei (ST), Tamenglong (ST), and Nungba (ST) are the 22 constituencies that are going for poll today. Reportedly, in the second phase of the Manipur Assembly elections, there are 1,247 voting stations. Approximately 8.38 lakh voters will exercise their right to vote in this phase. According to reports, there are 92 candidates in the race, including two women, whose electoral fate will be decided in the second phase of the Assembly elections.
