Srinagar: People’s Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti was placed under house arrest until further orders.

Reportedly, the administration claimed that the decision was taken following the increase of terrorist incidents in the valley and after the encounter of the security forces.

On Monday, during an anti-terror operation, security forces killed four people, including two civilians, in a gunfight.

Following it, Mufti led a protest along with PDP activists in Jammu against the civilian’s killings on Wednesday, demanding the authorities to hand the bodies of the deceased to their families.

The PDP chief claimed that the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) has been in force and thus, there was no accountability for the killing of the innocents.

Further, Mufti said, “No one knows whether terrorists are being killed in the valley or not. Civilians were targeted in the name of killing militants.”

As per reports, Pakistani terrorist, his local associate Mohammad Amir, and two civilians– Altaf Bhat and Mudassir Gul – were killed in the encounter in Hyderpora locality.
