Russian President Vladimir Putin has now signed a decree prohibiting Russians from leaving the country with more than $10,000 in foreign currency, despite sanctions and global backlash.

Digital Desk: Amid the ongoing war,  according to a Ukrainian international media organization, Russian President Vladimir Putin has banned its citizens from leaving the country with more than $10,000 in foreign currency in hand. Earlier on Thursday, over 1,700 people protesting against Moscow's decision to evacuate Ukraine were detained in the wee hours of the morning by Russian authorities. About 1,000 people gathered in Saint Petersburg, the former imperial capital, on Thursday while several thousand gathered near Pushkin Square in central Moscow, according to news agency AFP. Vladimir Putin would pay a high price for his invasion of Ukraine, President Biden said in his first State of the Union address.
