According to Ukraine’s State Emergency Service, the Retroville shopping mall and parked cars in an adjoining lot caught fire due to Russian shelling in the Podilskyi district on late Sunday.
According to CNN reports, 63 firefighters were dispatched to extinguish the fire, which had reached the third and fourth floors of the shopping centre.
According to Reuters, city mayor Vitali Klitschko said on his Telegram channel, “According to the information we have at the moment, several homes and one of the shopping centres were hit by the Russian bombs.”
Notably, in recent days, Russians have been consistently carrying out attacks on Kyiv, trying to surround the capital.
On Monday, British intelligence reported that Russian forces are advancing from the northeast on Kyiv, which remains under Ukrainian control nearly a month into the invasion.
According to the report, Ukrainian resistance has kept the majority of Russian forces more than 25 kilometers away from the city center, but Kyiv remains the war’s “primary military objective.”
