Srinagar: In yet another terrorist attack at Srinagar, two police personnel were killed, injuring 14 others after two terrorists attacked a police bus here in the Pantha Chowk area on Monday evening.

Reportedly, the bus carried 25 police personnel from the Jammu and Kashmir Armed Police’s 9th battalion.

The deceased policemen have been identified as Assistant Sub Inspector Ghulam Hassam and Selection Grade Constable Safique Ali.

Eye witness narrating the incident stated that the terrorists wearing helmets fired in the bus; one targeted the bus while the other punctured the bus wheels. Following it, the terrorists fired aiming police personnel inside the bus.

Kashmir’s Inspector General of Police (IGP) Vijay Kumar said that two to three terrorists were involved in the attack and they fled, taking advantage of the darkness.

As per the police reports, a new terrorist organization named ‘Kashmir Tiger’ was involved in the terror attack, which works under Lashkar-e-Taiba.

Expressing condolences to the families of the deceased, Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted, “@narendramodi has sought details on the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir. He has also expressed condolences to the families of those security personnel who have been martyred in the attack.”

PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti tweeted, “Terribly sad to hear about the Srinagar attack in which two policemen were killed. GOIs false narrative of normalcy in Kashmir stands exposed yet there has been no course correction. My condolences to the bereaved families.”

As per the reports, the area has been cordoned off and further investigation has been going on.

This terror attack comes a day after two policemen were killed after terrorists opened fire at a police team in Kashmir’s Bandipore district.
