Tripura: Two Border Security personnel were killed, injuring one in a firing following a brawl at the India-Bangladesh border.

Reportedly, the incident took place at a border outpost in the Silachari area of Gomati district, Tripura, at around 7 pm on Thursday.

The two deceased have been identified as Havildar Sahid Singh and constable Pratap Singh, while the injured sub-inspector has been identified as Ram Kumar.

The official stated that the incident occurred after an altercation between the constable and the havildar over duty-related matters. Following this, constable Pratap Singh shot dead havildar Sahid Singh with his service rifle.

After hearing gunshots, sub-inspector Ram Kumar rushed out and tried to pacify the angry constable, but the constable shot at him, too. Kumar sustained injuries in his leg but survived.

In a bid to save the officer and the other personnel, the border outpost sentry opened fire at the constable, which resulted in the latter’s death.

According to the report, senior BSF officials and police officers reached the spot to investigate the matter.
