Digital Desk: In reaction to the ban on its planes, Russia has stated that airlines from 36 nations, including the United Kingdom and Germany, will be barred from flying. Moscow's statement comes after the Russian airlines are barred from flying into the airspace in the majority of European countries and Canada. Jersey, a British dependency, and Gibraltar, a British overseas territory, are on the list. "The limitations were imposed as a retaliatory step for European states bans on flights by civil aviation operated by Russian airlines or registered in Russia," Russia's civil aviation authorities said. "Only airlines with a special permit will be permitted to fly into Russian airspace." It added. Last week, Russia blacklisted UK airlines after the United Kingdom banned Aeroflot, the country's flag carrier, as well as private jets. The European Union declared on Sunday that Russian aircraft, including private jets, will be barred from accessing its airspace. As a result of these regulations, airlines may be forced to take long detours on some routes, potentially hiking ticket prices.
