Shillong: Vice President of India M Venkaiah Naidu arrived at Meghalaya for a day-long visit to the state on Monday.

Meghalaya chief minister Conrad K Sangma received Naidu at Raj Bhavan.

Reportedly, during his visit, the Vice President laid the foundation stone of the up-gradation of NH-40 between Shillong and Dawki at the State Convention Centre, Shillong.

Later, at 4 pm, the Vice President will attend a workshop on ‘Changing Role of North Eastern Council in Development of North Eastern Region’ to be held at the NEC Secretariat.

Moreover, Naidu will also attend a cultural programme at Raj Bhavan followed by interaction with achievers from Meghalaya who have excelled in various fields, including arts, culture, sports and academics at 5 pm.

The Vice President will spend the night at Raj Bhavan and will depart from Shillong on Tuesday morning.
