Digital Desk: Nithin Kamath, CEO and Founder of Zerodha, has written an uplifting narrative of his father-in-law, who lost his fingers to frostbite during the Kargil War. Shivaji Patil, 70, is active and content with his grocery store in Belgaum, Karnataka. Netizens have been encouraged by the elderly man's active lifestyle and cheerful perspective.

Kamath stated in a lengthy LinkedIn post that Patil served in the Indian Army and voluntarily retired as a Havaldar after suffering frostbite during the Kargil War. Every day, the resilient man rides his "decades-old scooter" to the local market to acquire products for sale for the specially-abled. His wife handles the house and assists him in running the shop. Kamath also posted a picture of himself and Patil in the grocery store.

"He refuses to stop working, despite Seema and my success." When I ask him about the margins for different things in the business, he still has a glint in his eye. "He talks about chikkis with a 25% margin, buying a box for Rs 200 and selling them individually for Rs 250," Kamath remarked.

"I have never seen him want something or complain, not even about losing his fingers in the war," he added. As Kamath sought permission to marry his daughter, the ex-Army members persuaded him to take a government position.

Kamath was deeply moved by his father-in-law's story and saw him as the perfect embodiment of the adage "Money can't buy happiness." "I have been geeking out about increasing healthspan or how to live a good life until the end," Kamath stated. I am certain that the answer is to be content and to remain mentally and physically engaged at all times. This is something that money cannot buy, and he is the best example."

The old man's approach moved several users. "Grounded and content are the two words..." said one user. "The earlier one recognizes this in life leads to a peaceful life despite all ups and downs!" said another user. "Contentment is truly a health hack, and he's clearly an inspirational practitioner!" said a third user.
