Mumbai: Well-known Bollywood actor Anupam Kher has been conferred with an honorary doctorate in Hindu studies by the Hindu University of America.
The Hindu University of America is a non-profit public charitable, educational institution perceived as an online university.
"I feel humbled and acknowledged to receive this doctorate. It will have a very prestigious spot and will always be one of the significant highlights of my life. The doctorate will provide me a platform to speak concerning the philosophy of Hinduism, the philosophy of the oldest culture in the world," said Anupam Kher.
"First of all, the kind of work that people are doing over here in the field of education, especially the teachings of Hinduism that I believe in and have grown up with, I thought it was an honour that I had to accept," he added.
When in the US, Kher traveled to different cities with his brand-new show 'Zindagi Ka Safar,' where he had lively interactions with the public. The actor stated he had a "great" and "therapeutic experience" with the program, especially as the COVID-19 pandemic urged people to stay home and curtailed face-to-face communications.
Kher, who further shot for his movie "Shiv Shastri Balboa" in the nation, met various Indians and found that people have this high demand to communicate following the chaos caused by the pandemic.
He stated that it's essential to have human communications "to celebrate life all over again, to reach the word of hope because according to him, "hope is the heart of life."
Remembering his father's teachings, the actor stated, "a failure is an event, never a person."
"When you are confronted with a condition where you say there's a fear of failure, let me push my boundaries, you realize that you have the strength, you have the power, and you can look for new skylines."
The actor's latest book, 'Your Best Day Is Today,' is his third bestselling book in a series. The veteran actor was last seen as a storyteller in 'Bhuj: The Day India Shook.'
