Digital Desk: The International Film Festival of India (IFFI) has unveiled its highly anticipated Indian Panorama lineup for the 54th edition, set to captivate audiences in Goa from November 20th to 28th, 2023. The Indian Panorama segment, a flagship component of IFFI, has carefully selected 25 feature films and 20 non-feature films that promise to showcase the rich tapestry of Indian cinema.
The grandeur of the event was heightened by the announcement of "Aattam," a Malayalam masterpiece directed by Anand Ekarshi, as the opening feature film of Indian Panorama 2023. The film's selection is a testament to its artistic excellence and contribution to Indian cinema.
The Indian Panorama is a showcase of the best in Indian filmmaking, chosen meticulously by juries composed of eminent figures from the industry. This year, twelve jury members for feature films and six for non-feature films have played a vital role in selecting the nominees.
The selection process was no small feat, considering the 408 contemporary Indian feature films submitted. The final lineup of 25 feature films promises to be a diverse collection that reflects India's cultural richness. Some of the notable entries include "Aaraariraaro" (Kannada), "Iratta" (Malayalam), "Kaadhal Enbathu Pothu Udamai" (Tamil), and "The Vaccine War" (Hindi).
In addition to the feature films, the Indian Panorama's non-feature film category will also offer a stunning array of cinematic experiences. Among the 20 chosen non-feature films is "Andro Dreams" (Manipuri), directed by Ms. Longjam Meena Devi, which has the honor of being the opening selection.
The Indian Panorama is not just about showcasing artistic prowess but also serves as a platform for filmmakers to delve into themes and aesthetics while adhering to regulations set by the National Film Development Corporation, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India.
Apart from the feature and non-feature sections, the Mainstream Cinema Section will feature films like "2018—Everyone Is A Hero" (Malayalam), "Ponniyin Selvan Part 2" (Tamil), and "The Kerala Story" (Hindi), adding a touch of mainstream appeal to the panorama.
As cinema enthusiasts eagerly await the 54th IFFI, the Indian Panorama promises a cinematic journey that encapsulates the essence of India's storytelling, culture, and artistic finesse. With a wide selection of films, it's set to be a celebration of India's cinematic diversity that will captivate audiences from around the world.
