Digital Desk: Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Pathaan has been making waves at the box office, not only in India but also around the world. The film has crossed Rs 200 crore in India and Rs 500 crore in the international market. The Siddharth Anand-directed film even made it into the top five-grossing films at the North American box office. And now, director Siddharth Anand has hinted at a possible sequel to the blockbuster hit film.
Pathaan, starring Shah Rukh Khan, to have a sequel?
Director Siddharth Anand hinted at a Pathaan sequel, and King Khan would love to be a part of it. During the first-ever event of Pathaan in Mumbai's Taj Lands End, Pathaan's director said, " Pathaan aayi hai, hit hui hai. Uske baad kya banayege?" Fans then screamed, "Pathaan 2" and he replied back by saying, " Insha allah."
Shah Rukh then added, "This is a big day for us, my family. We haven't experienced this happiness in a while. We haven't felt this happy in a long time. I'll work on Pathaan 2 whenever Siddharth Anand asks me to. It would be an honour to work on a sequel if they decided to."
Siddharth Anand also said that one has to earn a Shah Rukh Khan film. "After War, while we were thinking about what to make next, I had the title Pathaan with me for a long time. Shah Rukh and I discussed the possibility of doing a film together ten years ago. I told him this story after that. I'd always wanted to work with him on a movie. You must earn a Shah Rukh Khan film. "I finally got the opportunity of doing a Shah Rukh Khan film," Siddharth Anand said at the event.
"When we were working on the film, I realized that directing Shah Rukh Khan was a big responsibility. He is like clay. Whatever you say, he will do it without hesitation. That taught me that if a Shah Rukh Khan picture fails to perform well, it is due to the director, not the actor. His admirers adore him so much. It comes with responsibilities. There are numerous fan clubs. It was only then that I realized how huge this task was. Our last two months were tough, ja maahol ban raha tha film ke around... I'm now relieved," he added.
Pathaan, directed by Siddharth Anand and produced by Yash Raj Films, stars Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, and John Abraham in major roles. Ashutosh Rana and Dimple Kapadia also featured in the film.
