Digital Desk: On Dussehra, actress Kangana Ranaut will become the first woman to perform the Ravan Dahan at the Lav Kush Ramleela in Delhi. This would be the first time in the event's 50-year history that a woman would set fire to the demon king's effigy with an arrow, according to Arjun Singh, the president of Delhi's Lav Kush Ramleela Committee.
Kangana also unleashed a video on Instagram on Monday about the occasion and her forthcoming flick Tejas. She captioned the tweet, "In the 50 years of history of the event, held annually at the Red Fort this will be the first time a woman will set the effigy of Ravana on fire Jai Shri Ram.
According to Arjun Singh, the committee decided in response to the Women's Reservation Bill, which was enacted by Parliament in September. "Whether it's a movie star or a politician, we have a VIP attend our event every year." Former President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi had already done the honours previously. Ajay Devgn and John Abraham are among the film stars who have visited. Prabhas performed the Ravan Dahan last year. For the first time in our event's 50-year history, the Ravan Dahan will be performed by a woman.
"The Lav Kush Ramleela Committee wants equal rights for women as well." Women's engagement in all aspects of life is expanding now, but there is still a long way to go. "The bill will help the country and society develop," Arjun told PTI. "To bring about equality, he believes that narrow-mindedness must be eradicated," he added.
"A woman can now set fire to Ravan's effigy, and she can also put an end to evil." Women should be granted the same privilege. "That's why we chose Kangana ji for it," he continued. The Women Reservation Bill attempts to provide women 33% representation in the Lok Sabha and state legislatures. The event will be held on October 24th.
Kangana is currently touring for her next film Tejas, which will be released on Friday. Sarvesh Mewara directed and wrote the film, which casts her as an Indian Air Force pilot.
