The public was informed by the government that every effort is being made to control the current circumstances and bring peace back to Manipur.

Digital Desk: In order to address and reject persistent rumors spreading on social media about the deployment of additional Central Security Forces to the state, the Manipur government has released an urgent press release.

It was made clear in the official Home Department statement that the rumors concerning military reinforcement in Manipur are untrue and ought to be written off as false information. According to the announcement, the security personnel currently on the move are simply those who were sent outside the state to conduct the 18th Lok Sabha General Elections.

"It is a matter of grave concern that many rumors and speculations are being circulated in social media and online messaging platforms," the statement read. "This speculation of military reinforcement into the State has no basis, and it should be ignored as misinformation."

The Home Department has issued a plea to individuals, media outlets, and civil society organizations asking them to refrain from spreading false information that could frighten the public and interfere with police enforcement's ability to carry out their duties. The statement issued a warning that there would be severe legal repercussions for any conduct that contributed to spreading false or unverified messages in order to incite fear.

"Panic mongering by fabrication, rampant sharing, and forwarding of unverified messages in social media and other mass media platforms will be viewed seriously, and appropriate action will be taken against the enablers under relevant laws," the press release warned.

The public was informed by the government that every effort is being made to control the current circumstances and bring peace back to Manipur.
