Digital Desk: In
Kangana Ranaut's next film Emergency, veteran actor Anupam Kher will portray
the late political figure Jayaprakash Narayan, also known as JP Narayan.
Kangana, who
plays former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in the movie, also wrote the
screenplay and is the director of the upcoming political drama. Emergency, a
movie that tells the tale of a turning point in Indian politics, debuted its
first trailer on Friday. In the movie, Anupam will portray JP Narayan, an
opponent of Indira Gandhi in the 1970s.
The actor shared
his first look from Emergency on Twitter and wrote, “Happy and proud to essay
the role of the man, who questioned fearlessly, a rebel in the truest sense of
the word.
Additionally, the
actor tweeted that this would be his 527th movie.
Anupam stated
that he found Kangana Ranaut's portrayal of Narayan, who was given the Bharat
Ratna posthumously in 1999, to be fascinating. "It's amazing to see
Kangana portray JP Narayan in this way. She thinks—and it's also true—that JP
Narayan is the movie's hero, and not just because I play him. She treats the
character in a heroic manner, "added the seasoned performer.
In the meantime,
Kangana expressed her gratitude for having Anupam on board. "In modern
Indian history, JP Narayan was the most influential person to have lived after
Mahatma Gandhi. He had a tremendous amount of power over individuals. I was
looking for an actor who could live up to JP Narayan's larger-than-life
portrayal of Lok Neta. Anupam ji's stature, acting prowess, and general
demeanour made him the ideal choice for the role "says the actor-director.
Kangana debuted the teaser for Emergency and her appearance as
former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi earlier in July. Kangana was seen adopting
the late politician's appearance in the photograph and promotional video,
replete with eyeglasses and a cotton saree. With the title "Presenting
'Her' who was called 'Sir' #Emergency shoot begins,"
