Kiara Advani says Kabir Singh's slap scene was "blown out of proportion"

The actor said, "After that overblown slap in the intermission scene, she (Preeti) leaves the man (Kabir). You overlook that because you don't see it. She returns at the very end when he returns to her, which is the exact moment when some people feel she shouldn't have taken him back.

    Digital Desk: Kiara Advani continues
to support her role as Preeti three years after the release of her film Kabir
Singh. Sandeep Reddy Vanga remade his own 2017 Telugu film, Arjun Reddy, for his
2018 production, Kabir Singh. The box-office hit movie with Kiara and Shahid
Kapoor in the major roles received harsh criticism for glamorizing misogyny and
    toxic masculinity.

    In
a recent interview, Kiara defended the movie, saying it would always remain a
love tale for her. She added that a specific sequence in which Shahid Kapoor's
character Kabir slaps her character Preeti was "blown out of
    proportion."

    She
said this to Bollywood Hungama "It's a love story for me, and the thing
about love is that it's the one emotion that can let you forgive someone for
certain actions in life. Relationships are incredibly complicated, and it's
quite simple for a third party- even me- to advise someone to end a
relationship after they have cheated on someone, shown disrespect for another
person, or smacked someone. It is a whole different issue for the two people in
    that connection, though."

    The
actor said, "After that overblown slap in the intermission scene, she
(Preeti) leaves the man (Kabir). You overlook that because you don't see it.
She returns at the very end when he returns to her, which is the exact moment
when some people feel she shouldn't have taken him back. I think that's what
gave it its emotional punch at the conclusion when they are confronting one
another and she basically tells him, "You f***ed up," but in the end
she caves because he is the love of her life.

    That's what love does, I
suppose. When you pick a scene from a movie and exaggerate it, you only talk
about the scene and haven't viewed the whole thing.

Recently, Kiara was paired with Varun
Dhawan in JugJugg Jeeyo and Kartik Aaryan in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2. Both movies
have been profitable at the box office. She now has Satyaprem Ki Katha with
Kartik Aaryan and Govinda Naam Mera in development.
