Digital Desk: In its draft charges filed in the drug case linked to late actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) charged actress Rhea Chakraborty of receiving ganja deliveries from individuals including Samuel Miranda, Showik Chakraborty (her brother), Dipesh Sawant, and others and giving them to the late actor. Reportedly, she paid for them in the year 2020.

Details of the draft charges, which the Central Anti-Drug Agency submitted against 35 accused before the Special Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS) Court last month, were publicly disclosed on Tuesday.

According to the draft allegations, all of the accused engaged in a criminal conspiracy between March 2020 and December of that same year to obtain, buy, sell, and distribute drugs in “high society and Bollywood.”

It further added that the accused had supported drug trafficking and used cocaine, ganja, charas, and other narcotics without a valid permit or legal authorization within the Mumbai Metropolitan area.

“In light of this, they have been charged in accordance with the draught charges under the relevant provisions of the NDPS Act, including sections 27 and 27 A (financing illicit traffic and harbouring offenders), 28 (punishment for attempts to commit crimes), and 29 (whoever aids in or is a party to a criminal conspiracy),” as per the draft charges.

The draft charges stated, “Showik Chakraborty, the brother of the accused Rhea Chakraborty, was frequently in contact with drug dealers and had ordered marijuana and hashish/charas from the co-accused and received multiple deliveries from them. Rajput received these deliveries.”

In connection with the case, Chakraborty was arrested in September 2020. A month later, the Bombay High Court granted her bail.

Along with the actress, her brother Showik Chakraborty and several others have been accused of the crimes; however, most of them are currently free on bail.

Following the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, the NCB started its investigation into alleged drug use in the film and television industries on June 14, 2020.
