Digital Desk: India has seen a drop in coronavirus cases, with 8,813 new cases of covid-19 infections reported in the last 24 hours as compared to 14,917 cases the day before, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare informed on Tuesday.
In the past 24 hours, 15,040 recoveries have been reported in the nation, bringing the overall number of recoveries from the virus to 4,36,38,844. The current rate of recovery is 98.56 percent.
The country's weekly positivity rate is 4.79 percent, while its daily positivity rate is 4.15 percent, as per the Health Ministry.
The Ministry also stated that there are 1,11,252 active cases in the nation, which amounts to 0.25 percent of all cases.
The Health Ministry further stated that 88.06 crore Covid tests have been conducted in the country so far, with 2,12,129 being done in the last 24 hours.
Meanwhile, the Center has administered 208.31 crore total vaccine doses as part of the National Vaccination Drive, including 93.80 crore second doses and 12.36 crore precaution doses for coronavirus infection.
In the last 24 hours, 6,10,863 dosages have been administered.
As part of the statewide immunisation campaign, the government of India has been providing free covid vaccines to states and union territories. In the new phase of the covid19 vaccination drive's universalization, 75% of the vaccinations manufactured by the nation's vaccine manufacturers will be purchased and provided to states and UTs (free of charge) by the Union Government.
