22 killed, several injured after van falls into ravine in Pakistan

The passenger bus was travelling from Loralia to Zhob town, according to Hafiz Muhammad Qasim, Deputy Commissioner of the Zhob district.

Digital Desk: At least 22 people were killed and several others on
Wednesday after a van they were travelling in fell hundreds of feet into a
ravine in Pakistan's hilly Balochistan region.

    The incident took
place when the driver reportedly failed to negotiate a sharp bend in the
mountainous district of Akhtarzai near Killa Saifullah, which is at an
elevation of 1,572 metres, and the vehicle crashed into the ravine.

    According to the
reports, 22 people were killed in the incident and one child was injured.

    The passenger bus was
travelling from Loralia to Zhob town, according to Hafiz Muhammad Qasim, Deputy
    Commissioner of the Zhob district.

    "The car came
crashing down from a hilltop near Akhtarzai." "Because rescue
attempts are difficult because of the deep ravine in the mountains, we have
only retrieved ten bodies so far," he stated.

    Notably, nearby
hospitals have been notified, and teams from Quetta have been called to assist
    in the rescue operation.

    Foreign Minister
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari expressed his sorrow over the disaster and urged the
authorities to provide proper medical care for the victims, as well as to take
    action to prevent future mishaps.
