Digital Desk: The Japan Meteorological Agency reported on Thursday that an earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 5.6 struck off the coast of Fukushima Prefecture in northeast Japan, although no tsunami warning has been issued.
The earthquake, which struck at 9.48 a.m. local time, was centred offshore, with its epicentre at latitude 37.6°N and longitude 141.7°E, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency.
The service added that the earthquake happened at a depth of 60 kilometres.
There have not yet been any reports of significant injuries or damage as a result of the earthquake.
