    7.8 magnitude earthquake strikes central Turkey, Casualties feared
    Even though the damage and death toll were still unknown, social media posts and videos suggested that many people had died.

    Digital Desk: Early on Monday, a 7.8-magnitude earthquake that was followed by a 6.7-magnitude earthquake severely shook southern Turkey, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS).

    The initial earthquake was 17.9 km beneath the surface, 26 km east of Nurdagi city in the province of Gaziantep, according to USGS data. At a depth of 9.9 kilometres, the second one struck central Turkey minutes later.



    Even though the extent of the harm and death toll remained unknown, social media posts and videos suggested there were numerous fatalities.

    According to BNO News, numerous buildings fell as a result of the earthquake, and many people were reportedly afraid to be stuck in the rubble.



    Reports further claimed thta Syria and Yemen were also affected by the tremors.
