Digital Desk: Former US President Donald Trump’s social networking app ‘Truth Social’ is finally available for download after its launch on Monday (February 21). Notably, soon after its launch, the app became the most downloaded app on the Apple App Store in just one day.
Shortly after its formal announcement, the Truth social app was made accessible on the App Store. On Monday, the app was the most popular free app on social media. Users who pre-ordered the app before it was released were automatically given access.
On the other hand, the app had to experience a bumpy trip after some of the users could not register their accounts due to technical difficulties. “Due to massive demand, we have placed you on our waitlist.” the notification read to several users with adding them to the waitlist.
After making incendiary statements on social media, Trump was banned from Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and other social media platforms, which led to the Capitol Hill riots on January 6, 2017.
Truth social’s CEO Devin Nunes, a former Republican Party member, informed Fox News that the app would be available to a broader audience in the Apple App Store. At the very least, it will be completely operational by the end of March in the United States.
“We’ll start rolling out on the Apple App Store this week. That’ll be fantastic since it’ll bring a huge increase in the number of individuals using the platform. I believe we will achieve our objective. We’ll be completely operating, at least within the United States, by the end of March.” Nunes stated.
Truth Social is a social media app similar to Twitter where users will be able to follow celebrities and regular people. Moreover, users can send personal notes to the people they follow through the app. They can also retweet and comment on other people’s tweets. The software also includes a dark theme and the ability to create hashtags. The Truth social can be described as a Twitter clone.
