Former Pakistan diplomat Shaukat Ali Mukadam’s daughter brutally murdered in Islamabad

In a massive flare-up of events in India’s neighbouring country, a former Pakistan diplomat’s daughter was found murdered on Tuesday night at her residence in Islamabad, local media reports stated, just days after a major diplomatic row broke out between Pakistan and Afghanistan over the alleged abduction of the daughter of Afghanistan's Ambassador in Islamabad.

Identified as Noor Mukadam, the 27-year-old daughter of former Pakistani diplomat to South Korea – Shaukat Ali Mukadam – was found shot dead in a house in F-7/4, Islamabad.

“She was first shot and then slaughtered,” the investigating officer said, according to Samaa TV. Another person was also injured in the attack. “A man named Zahir Jaffer, who was allegedly involved in the murder, was arrested on the spot and taken to the police station,” Islamabad Police said.

On July 16, Silsila Alikhil, the 26-year-old daughter of Afghanistan's ambassador to Pakistan Najibullah Alikhil, was briefly abducted from Islamabad and tortured, the Afghanistan Foreign office said in a statement last week. The incident triggered a major diplomatic row between the two neighbouring nations, Pakistan has stoutly denied the allegations made by Afghanistan, saying the police in Islamabad have found no supporting evidence of the alleged abduction.

Condolences poured in from across political circles over the gruesome murder. Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri, the chief spokesman for Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, took to Twitter to condemn the development. “Deeply saddened by the murder of the daughter of a senior colleague and former Ambassador of Pakistan. Heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and I hope the perpetrator of this heinous crime will be brought to justice,” Chaudhry said in his post with the hashtag #JusticeForNoor.
