Digital Desk: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Friday issued a stay order on the indictment of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman and former Prime Minister Imran Khan in the Toshakhana case.

Imran Khan was accused in the Toshakhana case on Wednesday, a day after being arrested from the Islamabad High Court (IHC) premises in the Al-Qadir Trust case, as per the reports of ARY News.

The hearing was presided over by Islamabad High Court Chief Justice Aamer Farooq. In his arguments before the court, Khan's lawyer, Khawaja Haris, claimed that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) failed to file a complaint against his client in accordance with the law.

He further stated that the complaint cannot be brought forward once the deadline ends. The CJ of the IHC asked Khawaja Haris. "What did the session judge hearing the case say on reservations raised by you?."

The judge stated that we shall observe the matter during the recording of the testimony in the case, and that the case is not admissible for hearing.

Reportedly, the IHC CJ imposed a stay order on the charge and ordered the sessions court to cease criminal proceedings in the Toshakhana case against Imran Khan after hearing arguments from Imran Khan's lawyer.

Notices were also served to the respondents in the case.

Imran was arrested outside the Islamabad High Court on Tuesday by Pakistan Rangers on a warrant issued by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in the Al-Qadir Trust case.

The NAB had opened an inquiry against Imran Khan, his wife Bushra Bibi, and others for allegedly acquiring hundreds of canals of land in the name of Al Qadir University Trust, resulting in a 190 million pound loss to the national exchequer.

The apex court ruled that the former prime minister's detention was "illegal" and ordered that he be released "immediately."

Following that, supporters and party workers praised the court's judgement.

PTI supporters celebrated the release of their leader, Imran Khan, and applauded the apex court's decision, according to Geo News.
