Man earns his living by working as a ‘human punching bag’ to help people relieve stress

Istanbul: Hasan Riza Gunay has been earning his living by working as a human punching bag, to help people relieve themselves of stress.

Hasan is a licensed “stress coach” since 2012, who got inspired to enter this weird job, after watching Turkish comedy actor Kemal Sunal’s movie Sark Bulbulu, in which the protagonist voluntarily lets himself be beaten.

Hasan realised that while some people relieve their stress by exercising, meditating or sleeping, others need to let it go by screaming or even hitting someone. So, he decided to earn money by getting beaten by those who are frustrated with their boss or spouse and wanted to relieve their stress.

"Most of my clients suffer from depression or panic attacks or are overwhelmed because of their daily routines," Gunay Turkish news agency Anadolu.

Hasan said that he accepts only two to four clients in a day and sessions last for about 10-15 minutes. Most of the clients are women.

He almost always puts on protective gear and works out regularly to keep himself in shape.

He may put on a mask from the photo of the person his clients are annoyed with so that they let out all their frustration becomes easier.

He added that he doesn't accept booking requests from anyone. "I have to feel right [about those making such requests]," he said.

The stress coach further said, "I would like to train other potentially interested people as ‘stress coaches’ and hand over my gloves to the new generation."

Hasan has his own website and regularly posts videos from his sessions on his YouTube channel, in case people want to know various DIY tips to relieve off their stress.
