Glasgow: On the sidelines of the COP 26 Summit held in Glasgow, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday had a meeting with the UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
According to sources the meeting lasted for a very short duration.
During this, both the leaders stressed on the ways to improve bilateral cooperation between both the nations in multiple areas like green hydrogen, use of renewable resources, technology, economics and defence.
They also discussed about numerous global and regional challenges, which included the situation in Afghanistan, issues of counter terrorism, post-COVID global economic recovery, supply chain resilience and more.
Reacting to the meeting through his social media account, PM Modi said “We got the opportunity to talk about different subjects including mitigating climate change.”

PM Modi also congratulated his British counterpart for successfully organizing the COP 26 Summit.
According to the official press release of the Ministry of External Affairs, PM Modi reiterated India’s pledge to closely work with UK for the economic and social progress of both the nations. They also reviewed the progress of the Roadmap 2030 priorities.
This was the first face-to-face meeting between both the leaders after PM Johnson had to cancel his visit to India twice due to the COVID pandemic.
Besides Johnson, PM Modi also had the opportunity to have a short interaction with the Prince of Wales and the eldest son of Queen Elizabeth II Prince Charles.
“It is always a delight to interact with The Prince of Wales. His passion towards caring for the environment is outstanding. He is at the forefront of many efforts to further sustainable development,” Modi said.
