The Western Security Council members requested Wednesday's meeting to discuss the situation in Ukraine.
Digital Desk: India declared on Wednesday that, in response to a particular request from the Ukrainian side, it is prepared to send its 12th cargo of humanitarian aid to Ukraine, which will include 26 different types of pharmaceuticals.
As the members gather to mark six months since the start of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, the country's Permanent Representative to the UN, Ruchira Kamboj, said that the humanitarian aid includes "hemostatic bandages," which are intended to stop the bleeding of deep wounds in children and adults and are included in the aid on the specific request by the Ukrainian side.
In order to deal with the impending catastrophe in the nation, the Ukrainian government has asked the Indian government for help.
"With regard to vaccines, we have met our obligations to the world. We previously used it for medication. I want to reassure this council that if the global south faces challenges related to food, health, or energy security, India will step up "said Kamboj.
The envoy explained that India's strategy will be to encourage diplomacy and dialogue in order to reduce the economic hardships brought on by the protracted conflict between Russia and Ukraine and to seek a swift conclusion.
The Indian representative at the UN also stated that numerous nations have contacted India on the supply of wheat and sugar, and we are reacting favourably.
Ruchira Kamboj remarked as she denounced the ongoing confrontation between Russia and Ukraine: "In the last three months alone, India has sold more than 1.8 million tonnes of wheat to countries in need, including to Afghanistan, Myanmar, Sudan, and Yemen.
Kamboj further emphasised that the Ukraine conflict's effects extend beyond Europe and have been escalating worries about the security of food, fertilisers, and gasoline in developing countries as well.
The ambassador said during the same briefing that India supports dialogue between Ukraine and Russia and that PM Narendra Modi has spoken to them on numerous occasions about this.
The Western Security Council members requested Wednesday's meeting to discuss the situation in Ukraine.
Russia and Ukraine signed the Black Sea Initiative on July 22. The agreement was announced by the UN in a way that will aid in addressing the situation of global food insecurity that has led to a shortage of food and increasing costs.
According to the head of UNICEF, there have been up to 1,000 boys and girls killed or injured in the Ukrainian conflict, while the actual number may be significantly higher.
Since the conflict erupted nearly six months ago, "at least 972 children in Ukraine have been killed or injured by violence, an average of over five children killed or injured each day," UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell stated in a statement on Monday.
The Ukrainian people have been subjected to extremely upsetting occurrences in the meanwhile. Those who run from violence run a high chance of experiencing family division, abuse, sexual exploitation, and more attacks.
Families have being split up and lives are being torn apart, according to numerous UN organisations.
