Digital Desk: An ISIS terrorist detained by the Russian security services for plotting an attack in India has admitted to the Russian news agency that he was planning an attack on "one of the representatives of the ruling circles of India."
The detained terrorist stated that he planned to carry out the attack in response to the controversy sparked by statements.
In the video released by the FSB of the Russian Federation in Russia, the terrorist could be heard admitting that he was supposed to take revenge in India "for insulting the Prophet".
Hired as a suicide bomber by an ISIS leader in Turkey, the terrorist stated that he planned to execute terror against a member of India's ruling circles by blowing himself up.
"I was supposed to be supplied with things there to commit a terrorist attack at the behest of the IS for insulting the Prophet Muhammad," the man was quoted as saying by TASS.
According to the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB), its agents arrested an ISIS suicide bomber who was planning a terrorist attack against a member of India's leadership elite.
"Russia's FSB detected and apprehended a member of the Islamic State international terrorist group, a citizen of a Central Asian country, who wanted to carry out a terrorist act by blowing himself up against one of India's ruling circles," the authority said in a statement, as quoted by Sputnik.
According to the Home Ministry, the Central Government has declared ISIS and all of its manifestations as terrorist organizations and listed them in the First Schedule of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967.
ISIS spreads its ideas through a number of social media sites. The agencies concerned are keeping a careful eye on cyberspace in this regard, and action is being taken in accordance with the law.
The terrorist apprehended by Russian authorities was allegedly inspired by the recent Prophet remark controversy, in which a spokesperson for an Indian political party made a remark on national television that enraged many West Asian countries.
India had denounced the party spokesperson's remark and reaffirmed its support for nations in the Middle East.
Earlier this month, Indian Minister of State (MoS) for External Affairs Affairs V Muraleedharan denied any claims that comments by political party leaders in India had harmed India's friendly relations with Arab countries.
Mr Muraleedharan made statements in Rajya Sabha in a written response to unstarred questions.
"No, India has long-standing and amicable relations with Arab countries, which have grown greatly in recent years in areas such as politics, trade and investment, defence, security, science and technology, culture, and people-to-people contacts," he wrote.
The minister also made it clear that the government continues to place high importance on developing relations with Arab countries, who are aware of the government's priorities.
