Pakistan harbours most dubious track record: India at UN General Assembly

Kamboj emphasised the importance of constructive dialogue in fostering a culture of peace amidst global challenges

Digital Desk: India strongly condemned Pakistan during a U.N. General Assembly meeting, announcing that Pakistan maintains a highly questionable track record across various fronts. Ruchira Kamboj, India's Permanent Representative to the U.N., issued this firm response following Pakistan's envoy Munir Akram's critical remarks concerning India, including mentions of Kashmir, the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, and the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.

Kamboj emphasised the importance of constructive dialogue in fostering a culture of peace amidst global challenges. She urged the delegation from Pakistan to adhere to principles of respect and diplomacy, highlighting the necessity of aligning with universal values. Terrorism, she emphasised, directly opposes peace and the core teachings of all religions.

“One final point…in this Assembly, as we endeavour to cultivate a culture of peace amid these challenging times, our focus remains steadfast on constructive dialogue. We thus choose to set aside the remarks from a certain delegation, which not only lack decorum but also detract from our collective efforts due to their destructive and pernicious nature,” Ms. Kamboj said on Thursday, as quoted by The Hindu.

Addressing the assembly, Kamboj underscored the world's current challenges, including geopolitical tensions and religious discrimination. She expressed India's concern over escalating attacks on sacred sites and stressed the need for a united response from the international community.

Highlighting India's commitment to peace, Kamboj referenced Mahatma Gandhi's doctrine of Ahimsa and India's rich cultural diversity, which serves as a beacon of tolerance and coexistence. She commended Bangladesh for presenting a resolution on a culture of peace, proudly co-sponsored by India.

Kamboj's speech underscored India's responsible dedication to fostering global peace and emphasised the imperative for respectful dialogue and cooperation among nations.
