Digital Desk: A restaurant manager from Lahore, Pakistan, was detained by police after serving acid in water bottles to customers at a birthday celebration at the Poet Restaurant in the historic Greater Iqbal Park.
According to reports, the police have filed a complaint under section 336B of the Pakistani Penal Code, which deals with the punishment for injuries brought on by caustic substances, against the restaurant management and five other people.

Muhammad Adil, the complainant, claimed he visited the restaurant for a family birthday celebration. He added that his niece Wajiha began vomiting as she drank the acid from one of the bottles provided, while his nephew Ahmad's hands and arms burned when he washed them with it. (Reports)
According to Adil, who was reported by the news agency PTI, "My nephew Ahmad washed his hands with it as the staff served the water bottles. Soon after that, he started sobbing, and we saw that the acid in the water bottle had burned his hands and arms.
Notably, the restaurant has been closed while an investigation into the situation is being conducted. "This is an unusual event and we are exploring it from all perspectives," a Pakistani police officer said.
