5-year-old files PIL seeking removal of liquor shop near school

Digital Desk: A five-year-old youngster in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh's Azad Nagar has filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking the removal of a liquor shop situated near his school. The young petitioner, enrolled in a private school, expressed concerns about the disturbance caused by the liquor shop's patrons, leading to an unexpected legal intervention. 

In his Public Interest Litigation, the child petitioner claimed that a liquor store near the school had caused disturbances. The petition claims that people who frequent the liquor store frequently cause disturbances and risk the security and well-being of the school-going children. 

Following receiving the PIL, the state government counsel was instructed by a division bench consisting of Justice Manoj Kumar Gupta and Justice Kshitij Shailendra to request a response from the relevant authorities. The court asked for an explanation of why the liquor store's license was being renewed in spite of the school's construction nearby. 

Considering the young petitioner's concerns, the court scheduled the PIL for the upcoming hearing on March 13. A distinctive element of the case is the five-year-old's involvement in the legal procedures, which draws attention to the larger problem of how liquor shops affect communities and educational institutions.
